Vine charcoal is perhaps my most expressive medium. I usually go with 12x18 acid free drawing paper and a non-specific vine charcoal of multiple weights. The pricing on charcoal portraits is $100 per sqft and $200 per sqft for color pastel portraits. I usually work on 12 x 18 negative space which for charcoal comes to $150 per portrait and $300 for a color pastel portrait.
